c.1930's Jimmie Foxx PSA Type 1 Encapsulated George Burke Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10" – PSA Type 1 LOA

Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx will forever be regarded as one of the greatest right-handed hitters in baseball history (along with Hornsby & Aaron); finishing his magnificent career with the Boston Red Sox after playing 11 seasons with Connie Mack's Athletics. Starting his career in 1925 with the Philadelphia Athletics, Foxx steadily increased his at-bats each year until he finally played his first full season in 1929. It was that fateful 1929 campaign that "The Beast" broke out of his cage with 33 home runs, 118 R.B.I.'s and a sensational .354 batting average. He would eventually end his incredible career with 534 round-trippers and knocking in 100 or more runs an unfathomable 13 consecutive seasons from 1929 thru 1941, with Foxx's home field being Boston's Fenway Park for 6 of those campaigns (1936-1941). His uncanny power placed immense fear in the hearts of opposing pitchers, and he walloped 30 or more home runs in 12 consecutive seasons including two seasons in which he hit 58 and 50 dingers!

For all these reasons, collectors actively pursue his highly coveted artifacts, justifying why this outstanding c.1930s George Burke Type I photo resides as one of "XX's" awe-inspiring collectibles. Measuring approximately 8" x 10", the image portrays an imposing first sacker fielding image of the immortal Foxx as he dons his period-style Boston Red Sox flannels and cap. The brilliant aesthetics are highlighted by outstanding contrast and clarity, literally prompting the viewer to feel as if Foxx has just tossed the baseball. The only noteworthy flaws appear to be some negligible/stray marks near the upper borders that do not impede the magnificent central image. The corners depict clean/round edging that is the standard for George Burke photos and the final exclamation point is the verso's critical "GEO. BURKE" credit stamp. In closing, Jimmie Foxx's unfathomable batting statistics justify his elite standing in our National Pastime's glorious history, with this captivating world-class offering the perfect testament for his elite stature!
