(LOT 116)
1947 Dodger Infielders w/a Rookie Jackie Robinson – Includes Jorgensen (3B), Robinson (1B), Shotton (Mgr.), Stanky (2B) & Reese (SS) – PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Photo - Measures Approx. 7-1/2" x 9-1/2"

One of America's most iconic moments is when the immortal Jackie Robinson officially broke the Major League Baseball color barrier in 1947, courtesy of the unbridled courage portrayed by both Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers Legendary General Manager Branch Rickey. That monumental occurrence changed not only baseball, but all of professional sports for eternity. It comes as no surprise that Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson's collectibles continue to skyrocket every day, especially artifacts from his inaugural 1947 campaign that seem to know no boundaries with regard to their potential value.

One of those highly coveted keepsakes is this breathtaking 1947 PSA Type 1 Photo portraying 1st baseman Jackie Robinson alongside three other Brooklyn Dodgers starting infielders as well as their celebrated manager Burt Shotten. Labeled an official Jackie Robinson rookie photo on PSA's critical label, the flamboyant Jackie joins 3rd baseman Spider Jorgensen (far left), manager Burt Shotten dressed in his typical "Connie Mack-like" formal attire (directly to Jackie's left), popular 2nd baseman Eddie Stanky (second from the right) and Hall of Fame shortstop Pee Wee Reese (far right).

Interestingly enough, Jackie Robinson was not the Dodgers starting second baseman in his 1947 rookie season, eventually taking the second sacker position the following campaign after Eddie Stanky was traded to the Boston Braves in March, 1948. Measuring approximately 7-1/2" x 9-1/2", the borderless black & white image portrays the finest possible crystal-clear clarity and contrast, as these five Dodger legends gracefully pose for the camera. The only noteworthy flaws are a modest crease and some diminutive surface cracking/damage both situated near the lower left corner. While all five members of this efficient Brooklyn club were significant cogs in their pennant winning campaign, it is certainly Jackie Robinson's stoic presence that places this magnificent offering as a momentous 1947 heirloom; with Robinson's unparalleled embodiment of courage forever changing the face of our National Pastime!
