(LOT 5)
Honus Wagner Signed Batting Photo (Full PSA/DNA LOA) – Lot Includes a 2-1/2" x 7" c.1920's/'30's Honus Wagner Printing Plate Used to Advertise His Popular "Honus Wagner Company" Official League Baseballs

Presented here is a spectacular Honus Wagner lot that includes a boldly signed 3" x 4" classic batting image as well as an extremely rare c.1920's/'30's metal printing plate used to produce advertising signs for the Honus Wagner Company Official League baseballs. The batting photo includes an imposing black-fountain ink "Honus Wagner – 18 Yrs.." script across the top that reveals solid "8" strength, with Wagner obviously including the "18 Yrs" inscription to commemorate his 18-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The "Flying Dutchman's" first three seasons would be spent with the Louisville Colonels (1897-1899), where this raw-boned superstar would be embarking on the greatest career of any MLB shortstop. In 1900, Wagner joined the Pittsburgh Pirates and proceeded in compiling nearly 3,000 hits for the "Steel City" over the next 18 years to the tune of a sensational .328 lifetime batting average. His complete 21-year career would include 3,420 hits, 1,732 runs batted in, 723 stolen bases, and a robust .858 OPS, leaving total legitimacy to his 1936 HOF Charter Membership and iconic manager John McGraw's claim that Wagner was the greatest player he ever saw!

His solidified "niche" in the collectibles industry stems from the legendary T206 Wagner card that has already sold for north of $3 million, with autographed keepsakes such as this momentous offering likewise fancying a myriad of enthusiasts. As previously stated, this lot also includes a significantly obscure printing plate from the 1920's/1930's era that was utilized to print advertising signs to market the popular Honus Wagner Sporting Company Official League baseballs. These red-stitched balls included the following blue ink stampings: "Official League Ball"; a "Honus Wagner Co. Pittsburgh U.S.A." trademark seal and "A97 Cork & Rubber Center." The plate itself reveals a classic Wagner "knee-bent" pose as well as the following text: "Honus Wagner – OFFICIAL LEAGUE BALLS – CORK AND RUBBER CENTER - HONUS WAGNER COMPANY – PITTSBURGH U.S.A." Wagner's renowned Sporting Goods Store first opened its doors to the public in 1918, operating in downtown Pittsburgh for some 93 years before finally closing shop in 2011. Both the autographed photo and printing plate have been mounted via super eye pleasing wooden gold frames, with this dynamic Wagner duo worthy of an esteemed place in any serious HOF memorabilia gathering!  Additional shipping charge of $25.00
