(LOT 447)
1915 Cracker Jack #73 Max Carey (PSA NM/MT 8)

Baseball historians consider Hall of Fame outfielder Max Carey one of the finest fielding centerfielders of all-time, even comparing him to the likes of Speaker, DiMaggio and Mays. His 339 lifetime assists still stand as the modern day N.L. record, and while not a strong hitter, he also happens to be one of the game's best leadoff hitters, seemingly always reaching base and accumulating 738 lifetime stolen bases.

One of Carey's highly coveted cardboard collectibles is his 1915 Cracker Jack subject, and this breathtaking PSA NM-MT 8 gem has only been joined by twelve other specimens with a paltry 3 examples graded higher! We cannot imagine a more imposing lithographic image than the brilliant Carey throwing pose that is affixed to a seemingly immaculate red setting. Fine centering (only modestly favoring the right edge), no obtrusive creasing/surface blemishes, pinpoint corners, and the uncharacteristic absence of any glaring caramel stains all combine to substantiate the world-class PSA 8 assessment!
