(LOT 132)
c.1960's Mickey Mantle Classic "Bat Over Shoulder" PSA Type I Encapsulated Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

Presented is one of the most captivating Mantle images you will ever come across, an awe-inspiring circa 1960's PSA Type 1 photo with the "Commerce Comet" holding his mighty lumber over his left shoulder. Measuring approximately 8" x 10", "The Mick" is donning his classic pinstripe Yankee uniform, as he portrays a good-natured smile and firmly grips a bat that blasted so many tape measure home runs into the furthest confines of any MLB stadium. It is said that 'The Mick" walloped at least ten 500+ foot round-trippers over his legendary career, with one of them measuring 565-feet off of Senators hurler Chuck Stobbs at Griffith Stadium in 1953; the longest official home run in MLB history.

That mammoth blast was from the right hander's batter box, with Mantle also hitting the Yankee Stadium right field facade TWICE in his illustrious career batting left-handed. Indeed, it really didn't matter if the "Commerce Comet" was batting right or left-handed because once he connected with a baseball off of the sweet spot of the bat, as legendary announcer Ralph Kiner used to say, "it was going, going gone!". Exhibiting outstanding condition, this offering has stubbornly defied "Father-Time" by retaining virtually all of its original attributes including superb resolution, near-perfect contrast, clean surfaces, fine centering and no glaring surface flaws whatsoever. A magnificent keepsake, is stands as a sheer testament for the Mickey Mantle's unparalleled legacy that will forever stand the test of time! – PSA Type I Encapsulation
