(LOT 114)
1930 Bobby Jones PSA Type l Encapsulated Associated Underwood & Underwood Photo - Measures Approx. 7-3/4" x 9-1/4"

Iconic golfer Bobby Jones won 13 Major Championships and stands as the only player to ever win the "Pre-Masters" Grand Slam, winning all four major championships in the same calendar year in 1930. His four Major wins included: "The Amateur Championship" (Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland – May 31, 1930); "The Open Championship" (Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, England – June 20, 1930); "The U.S. Open" (Interlachen Country Club, Minnesota – July 12, 1930); and the "US Amateur" (Merion Golf Club, Pennsylvania – September 27, 1930).

This sensational PSA Type 1 Photo portrays the legendary Jones accepting his winning trophy from Finley S. Douglas (President of the U.S. Golf Association) for the aforementioned US Open at the Minneapolis Interlachen Country Club, with Jones compiling an outstanding 287 score. Measuring approximately 7-3/4" x 9-1/4", this Associated Press photo depicts spectacular contrast and registration, only revealing a modest upper left corner chip. The final exclamation point is the verso's detailed caption summarizing this revered event when Jones would capture his third 1930 Major event, on his way to achieving the seemingly impossible "Grand Slam" and arguably the greatest season ever in golfing history! - PSA Type I Encapsulation
