(LOT 102)
1926 Yankees Team Photo - PSA Type I Encapsulated Underwood & Underwood Photo – Measures Approx. 6-3/4" x 9"

The 1926 Yankees would capture their fourth American League Pennant via their formidable 91-63 record that placed them 3 games ahead of the second place Cleveland Indians. Led by the dynamic batting duo of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig who combined for 63 round trippers and a staggering 262 runs batted in, this powerhouse ballclub would now meet the highly touted St. Louis Cardinals in the 1926 Fall Classic. Unfortunately for New York, they would succumb to Roger Hornsby's Redbirds in a tightly contested 7-game series. As a stellar keepsake from that momentous 1926 campaign, presented here is a magnificent 6-3/4" x 9" black & white PSA Type 1 team photo of the revered Yankees with the players donning their classic period-style "NY" baseball jackets.

The five Hall of Famers include Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Hoyt and manager Miller Huggins, with the first four names all standing in the back row (the rather short Miller Higgins is situated in the center of the middle row). Exhibiting breathtaking aesthetics via its crystal-clear clarity, no glaring blemishes are evident with the verso including the critical UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD credit stamp as well as a significant caption reflecting the names of all the players on the obverse side. While 1927 Yankees team photos are certainly available for the taking, seldom have we come across a 1926 New York team image, justifying why this world-class scarcity merits serious attention from any esteemed photo enthusiast! - PSA Type I Encapsulation
