c.1936 American League All-Stars International News Type 1 Photo - Incl. Lou Gehrig & Jimmie Foxx - Measures Approx. 8" x 10" - PSA Type I Encapsulation

On July 7, 1936, nearly 26,000 patrons would come out to National League Park in Boston, MA. to witness the 1936 All-Star game won by the National league by a 4-3 score. Highlights of the game included three masterful shutout innings by N.L. starting pitcher Dizzy Dean who would be credited with the victory, with A.L. starter Lefty Grove touched up for two runs and taking the loss. National League starting centerfielder Augie Dalan belted a solo homer and for the Americans, the immortal Lou Gehrig would clout a round-tripper of his own, although it was not enough to overtake the N.L. squad. As a valued keepsake for that classic event, presented here is an original Type I International News photo portraying five American league sluggers before the start of the game including from left to right: Frankie Higgins, Goose Goslin, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx and Earl Averill.

Measuring 8" x 10", the black & white image reveals stellar contrast and impeccable resolution, with the only noteworthy flaws being some stray wrinkles near the upper left corner and a small vertical tear situated at the upper central border area. Both flaws do not impede on the superb aesthetics and the verso includes both the International news credit stamp and critical caption highlighting the details of this outstanding image. A significant memento from our National Pastime's 1936 mid-summer classic, it captures two of baseball's most imposing sluggers ever, with both the "Iron Horse" and "Jimmie Foxx" residing as two of baseball's greatest hitters to ever grace a diamond!
