(LOT 246)
1951 Bowman #240 Joe Haynes (PSA Gem Mint 10) – Highest Graded Example!

One of only three "PSA Gem Mint 10" 1951 Bowman's, this spectacular Joe Haynes offering has been joined by only two other specimens as the finest of its kind! Right-handed pitcher Joe Haynes spent 14 years in The Major Leagues, basically splitting his time with the Washington Senators and Chicago White Sox. His premier season as in 1947 with Chicago, winning 14 games and posting a superb 2.42 E.R.A. Synonymous with that stellar campaign is this supreme offering that reveals a breathtaking "half-body/portrait image of the bygone hurler as he dons his period-style Senators uniform.

Ultra-crisp blue and gray hues as well as crystal clear clarity ably assist in the image's awe-inspiring aesthetics. While the illustration does partly favor the left edge, its aforementioned brilliant eye appeal, gleaming surface, pinpoint corners and dazzling white borders more than compensate for the slight off-positioning. A truly captivating cardboard keepsake, it has stubbornly defied "Father Time" to stand alongside a meager two other examples as the pinnacle 19951 Bowman Haynes subject!
