In our illustrious hobby, there is no better feeling than claiming ownership of a card or set that irrefutably resides as the undisputed finest of its kind. For hockey enthusiasts who painstakingly seek the "best of the rest" cardboard collectibles, your "Queen Mary" has just sailed in with regard to this absolutely extraordinary 1971/'72 Topps 100% complete set that just happens to stand stands as the #1 compilation on both the CURRENT & ALL-TIME PSA Set Registry! All 132 subjects have been encapsulated by the prestigious PSA Grading Company with the entire set compiling an incredible 10.453 Weighted GPA w/Top Pop Bonuses (w/a standard 9.65 Weighted GPA less Top Pop Bonuses).

Measuring approximately 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", these extremely colorful cards include the player's pose within a bi-colored oval with a large team name affixed across the top. The versos included the player's "year-by-year" statistics (as opposed to just the prior year's stats), as well as a brief "bio" and rogue hockey fact. Some of the 26 Hall of Famers (20% of the set) include hockey legends such as Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, Phil Esposito, Stan Mikita, Jacques Plante, Ed Giacomin, Henri Richard, Tony Esposito, Gordie Howe and the highly coveted ROOKIE-CARD of immortal Canadians goaltender Ken Dryden.

Regarding the overall grades of this pinnacle compilation and virtually hard to comprehend is that this miraculous 132-card grouping actually includes 94 "PSA Gem Mint 10" subjects that encompass a staggering 71% of the set! Rounding out the remaining 38 cards are 37 "PSA Mint 9's" and a single "PSA NM/MT 8". Indeed, it is nearly inconceivable to grasp the concept of a 49-year old set residing at a "MINT" to "GEM MINT" level, and we can only assume that only a handful of sports card gatherings approaching their 50th birthday can possibly compete with his time-defying marvel. With that said, this amazing array of mint or better subjects certainly lends itself to some imposing "Pop Chart" statistics. Consider that a mind-boggling 102 cards stand as the highest graded examples (77% of the set) with 3 of those subjects true "1 of 1's" (#33 Andre Lacroix; #40 Brad Park/HOF; #112 Jim Neilson).

Additionally, 5 cards have only "Pop 1" higher, and 9 cards have only "Pop 2" higher. We can only "tip our hat" to our esteemed consignor who exercised the excruciatingly painful chore of assembling this unparalleled compilation over a considerable length of time. As the technical assessments would surely substantiate, virtually every card presents itself in "pack-fresh" fashion, with flawless-like surfaces, sparkling hues and razor-sharp perimeters that include precision right-angled corners. Breathtaking to say the least, this "labor of love" truly epitomizes the term "near-perfection", proudly standing tall as the unequivocal #1 Set on BOTH the Current and All-Time PSA Set Registries, with its ultimate infinite-like value to be determined by the elite hobbyists who battle for its new ownership!

As we have done with several other esteemed hockey sets in this auction, the enclosed chart lists each subject (including the players HOF or Rookie card (R) status, where applicable), the respective PSA Grade and the associated "Pop"/"Pop Higher" status, with the "0 Pop Higher" cards highlighted/shaded.
