Presented here is one of the finest 1963/'64 Topps hockey sets extant, a magnificent 100% complete compilation that just happens to be ranked #3 on the CURRENT PSA Set Registry! All 66 subjects have been encapsulated by the prestigious PSA Grading Company with the entire set compiling an incredible 8.86 Weighted GPA w/Top Pop Bonuses. Measuring approximately 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", Topps only included players for three American Teams including the Boston Bruins (#'s 1-21), Chicago Blackhawks (#'s 22-43), and New York Rangers (#'s 44-65), with a checklist card rounding out the set at #66.

With the exception of the checklist subject, all of the cards reflect landscape/horizontal portrait images and a black & white "in action" illustration, as well as an imposing hockey stick design that exhibits both the player and team name. Consistent with other Topps hockey issues, the versos include statistical information as well as a brief player "bio", with this being the inaugural time Topps chose to utilize a horizontal format for their annual hockey set. The entire gathering includes 15 Hall of Famers, with some of those legendary players being Johnny Bucyk, Glenn Hall, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Andy Bathgate, Rod Gilbert, Jean Ratelle and Jacques Plante (note: the Plante subject resides as his first Topps card after being traded from the Montreal Canadians to the N.Y. Rangers).

Additionally, the four rookie cards include Ed Johnston, Ed Westfall, Ed Van Impe and popular Rangers goaltender Gilles Villemure. Remarkably, no card is graded less than a NM/7, with the complete breakdown of the technical assessments as follows: 1 (PSA Gem Mint 10); 36 (PSA Mint 9's); 1 (PSA NM/MT+ 8.5); 26 (PSA NM/MT 8's); 2 (PSA NM 7's). Imagine, 64 of the 66 subjects post a technical assessment of "8" or higher, with these stratospheric grades resulting in the following stupendous population report data: 30 cards sharing the distinction of being the highest graded examples; 8 cards having only "Pop 1" higher, and 6 cards having only "Pop 2" higher! Our utmost compliments to our esteemed consignor for meticulously "cherry picking" virtually all of the 66 subjects that emanate breathtaking eye appeal based on their sparkling hues, crystal clear clarity, pinpoint corners, fine centering and "pack-fresh"-like surfaces.

To provide you with a vivid perception of this gathering's amazing stature, the enclosed chart lists each subject (including the players HOF or Rookie card (R) status, where applicable), the respective PSA Grade and the associated "Pop"/"Pop Higher" status, with the "0 Pop Higher" cards highlighted/shaded. Ranked #3 on an elite PSA Registry list of the hobby's premier 1963/'64 Topps sets, this world-class offering proudly stands as one of the pinnacle compilations of its kind, boasting a myriad of highly-graded specimens that seldom surface for the taking!
