(LOT 827)
Barney Dreyfuss Typed Letter July 13th, 1911 to Baseball Hall Of Famer Fred Clarke JSA LOA Epic Content!

Typed on Pittsburgh Athletic Company letterhead, Dreyfus instructs Fred Clarke to shop some of his specific players. He requests that, "in order to be in shape to discuss freely as to what players we are willing to use in a deal, I am giving you herewith a list of our players, and would ask that you wire me first thing tomorrow which of them I can use in working with Kelley. I have placed a number before each name, so that you need only to wire the "number"; as this will avoid using the players names in the telegram:" Players names are listed on the 2nd page of this letter that has been elegantly signed by Pittsburgh Pirates Owner, Barney Dreyfus.

Dreyfus is often credited with the creation of the modern baseball World Series. He also built one of baseball's first modern steel and concrete baseball parks, Forbes Field, in 1909. During his period of ownership, the Pirates won six National League pennants and World Series titles in 1909 and 1925; only the New York Giants won more NL championships (10) during the same period. This is some of the most rare content coming from an owner (Baseball Hall Of Famer) to a Player/Manager (Baseball Hall Of Famer). Accompanied by an LOA from JSA.
