(LOT 970)
Extremely Rare c.1960s Mickey Mantle Yoo-Hoo Children's Tee-shirt

Throughout the 1950's and 1960's, the renowned Yoo-Hoo manufacturer engineered a clever promotional campaign spearheaded by Yogi Berra and the iconic New York Yankees. With the vision of Yogi Berra enjoying an ice cold Yoo-Hoo drink embedded in millions of American minds, sales soared for this prestigious company, sparking a myriad of additional advertising campaigns including the likes of hallowed Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford. The iconic "Mick" followed his teammate Berra and his name was utilized on various Yoo-Hoo artifacts including advertising posters, related baseball cards, bottled syrup, related caps and even the ultra-rare c.1960's Yoo-Hoo children's tee-shirt that dons a classic Mantle cartoon portrait image within a bold orange circle.

Virtually never offered to the public is the ever-elusive Mantle Yoo-Hoo tee-shirt, and presented here is that extremely scarce memento in excellent condition, with its obscurity justified by the fact that we have only seen a single other example! Fortunately, courtesy of Memory Lane, the seemingly impossible task of finding an early 1960's Mantle Yoo-Hoo tee-shirt is now a reality. Its irrefutable paucity level stems from the fact it was never offered for retail, and could only be obtained by sending the company 50 cents along with either 2 Yoo-Hoo wrappers, can tops or bottle caps.

Even more impressive is that this eclectic tee-shirt appears to have never been worn and portrays near-mint+ attributes. The classic Mantle image is magnificent, set against a rich orange hued circle and bold brown perimeter. The dark brown verbiage below boldly reads "ME FOR YOO-HOO" with a facsimile "Mickey Mantle" signature beneath the caption. It is no secret that the "Commerce Comet" is the kingpin of the post-WWII market, and we simply cannot imagine a more amazing memento than this "spine-tingling" children's tee-shirt that possibly resides as one of the few remaining examples in existence!
