(LOT 936)
c.1940's Stan Musial Signed 7-1/2" x 9-1/2" Original Photo – JSA/James Spence Auction LOA

One of the most underrated hitters in baseball history, Stan "The Man" Musial's list of superlatives include a .331 lifetime average, 3,630 hits, 475 home runs, nearly 2,000 RBI's, 7 batting titles, 3 MVP's and a staggering 24 All Star game appearances. Based on these esteemed statistical highlights, it is mind boggling as to why his name doesn't stand next to Ruth, Cobb, Williams, Aaron, Mays, Mantle, etc. Fortunately, his playing excellence hasn't eluded hobbyists who actively seek his prized collectibles such as this stellar c.1940's signed original black & white photo!

Portraying a vintage 1940's script, the black fountain pen exhibits approximate "Mint 9" strength, with the Musial image depicting this baseball immortal in a slight leaning-over pose as he rubs his hands with his renowned lumber gently resting against his upper right thigh. While Musial autographs are certainly not scarce, this is a rare opportunity to capture one scripted from his 1940's playing days on a super eye pleasing period illustration!
