(LOT 92)
"Unique for the Grade" 1956 Topps #145 Gil Hodges "Gray Back" (PSA Gem Mint 10) - The SOLE & HIGHEST GRADED Example!

This "Unique for the Grade" 1956 Topps #145 Gil Hodges resides as one of his most miraculous cardboard mementos with its PSA "Gem Mint 10" assessment placing it as the irrefutable SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED example of its kind! Many baseball historians agree that Gil Hodges may be the greatest player not inducted in baseball's prestigious Hall of Fame, justified by his myriad of accomplishments. Hodges was an 8-time all-star, knocked in over 100 runs for 7 consecutive seasons, clubbed 20 or more homers for 11 consecutive seasons and ended his career with an impressive 370 round trippers. In fact, at the time Hodges hit his final career home run, he was the all-time National League leader for right handed batters.

He was also regarded as the finest fielding 1st baseman in the game, and if all of these aforementioned achievements weren't enough, managed a World Championship team when his amazing New York Mets shocked the baseball world in 1969. Statistically speaking, the numbers and accolades appear to match up to Cooperstown status, but what is certainly irrefutable is this breathtaking offering easily meriting cardboard Hall of Fame standing. The right-handed slugger's amazing images portray the riches possible hues, with the near-perfectly centered illustration residing between four blinding white borders. A razor-sharp perimeter includes four pinpoint corner tips and both surfaces are absolutely immaculate. A gleaming obverse surface, and pristine verso complete one of the most spectacular Hodges cardboard keepsakes extant with its "one of a kind" Gem Mint 10 assessment placing it as the finest example on the planet!
