(LOT 27)
1903 E107 Breisch Williams Buck Freeman "Type 1" (SGC VG 3) – "1 of 1" & The Highest Graded Example on the COMBINED SGC & PSA "Pop" Charts!

This outstanding "best of the rest" SGC VG 3 E107 Buck Freeman "Type 1" currently resides as the SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED example on the COMBINED SGC and PSA "Pop" Charts! No one would argue about the extreme condition sensitivity associated with Breisch Williams subjects, and it comes as little surprise that this "VG" specimen irrefutably stands as the finest of its kind. Synonymous with this revered offering is Buck Freeman's legacy as one of the more formidable "turn of the century" hitters, with the fleet footed outfielder and former pitcher compiling a formidable .293 lifetime batting average over his celebrated 11-year career.

In 1899 he slugged a league leading 25 home runs (a remarkable figure for that period), and walloped a likewise league-leading 13 round trippers in the American's 1903 World Championship season. His superb representation on this ultra-scarce E107 offering is highlighted by the eye pleasing Carl Horner portrait pose that does favor the left edge. Relatively clean borders and surfaces support the excellent E107 assessment, with only some negligible vertical surface scratches on the obverse side and some reverse side modest soiling preventing a higher grade. Fortunately, its current SGC 3 assessment and fine visual appeal are more than sufficient for its undisputed standing as the pinnacle Buck freeman E107 extant!
