(LOT 23)
1903 E107 Breisch Williams Bill Dineen "Type 1" Blank Back (SGC VG 3) – "1 of 1" & The Highest Graded Example on the COMBINED SGC & PSA "Pop" Charts!

The Breisch-Williams E107 baseball cards stand as one of the hobby's most prestigious and valuable issues, with the set's common subjects arguably sought after at an extremely significant level. Presented here is one of those "commons", Boston's superb right-handed twirler Bill Dineen in a stellar SGC VG 3 holder, with this blanked back "Type 1" marvel proudly standing tall as the SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED example on the planet! Indeed, of the scant eleven encapsulated SGC examples (PSA has graded NONE!), not a single specimen has managed to either equal or surpass this world-class prize. Standout hurler Bill Dineen won 20 or more games four times, and threw a no-hitter against the White Sox in 1905.

However, his major claim to fame came in the inaugural 1903 World Series when he bested Pittsburgh three times to help Boston claim baseball's first World Series championship. Synonymous with that revered distinction is this magnificent offering that portrays a virtually unscathed classic Carl Horner portrait image. Highlighting this legendary pose is the crystal-clear clarity and near-perfect contrast, with the illustration somewhat favoring the right edge between four relatively clean borders. Even corner wear (emanating an eye pleasing uniformity) and some scattered diminutive surface toning/soiling account for the VG grade that irrefutably suffices as the finest technical assessment of its kind, a sheer testament to the unparalleled condition sensitivity of the extremely obscure Breisch-Williams subjects.
