(LOT 1047)
Lou Gehrig Fountain Pen Signature Extremely Rare JSA LOA

Most autograph collectors would surely agree that one of the most sought-after scripts is the legendary signature of baseball's "Iron Horse", Lou Gehrig who tragically passed away at the tender age of 37 due to the ill effects of the incurable ALS disease. Stricken during the prime of his life, Gehrig was unable to continue signing autographs after his abrupt retirement in May 1939, justifying why any Gehrig script remains a valued commodity in the baseball collectible community. This blue fountain pen signed Lou Gehrig cut has been professionally matted and framed (approx. 14-3/4" x 18-1/2" dimensions) with a classic black & white Gehrig batting photo (not vintage a re-strike photo) with the iconic script measuring approximately 1-3/4" long.

Furthermore, it is accompanied by a full JSA/James Spence LOA, substantiating its ironclad authenticity. Lou Gehrig's "Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" speech on July 4, 1939 will forever be considered baseball's Gettysburg Address, and he continues to be placed on virtually all historians "top five" all-time baseball players list. From 1925 to 1939 Gehrig batted .340, knocked in almost 2000 runs and slugged 493 home runs. These unfathomable numbers coupled with his iconic 2,130 consecutive game streak have left an indelible mark on the game itself, more than justifying why this stellar Lou Gehrig signed cut merits a final resting place in any serious autograph compilation!
