(LOT 591)
1911 T205 Eddie Collins "Mouth Open" Hassan Cigarettes (SGC NM+ 7.5) - "1 of 1" - HIGHEST GRADED Copy on the SGC Pop Chart!

Along with Rogers Hornsby and Napoleon Lajoie, most baseball historians consider Eddie Collins one of the greatest 2nd baseman to ever grace a baseball field. One of his toughest type cards is the T205 "open mouth" variation, presented here in a spectacular SGC "NM+ 7.5" holder; the SOLE SGC copy at this elevated tier and the HIGHEST GRADED example! Justifying its rarity vs. the "closed mouth" version is the combined SGC and PSA "pop" charts indicating only 34% (218) of the approximate 650 encapsulated T205 Eddie Collin's examples depicting an "open mouth" variation.

The card itself exhibits a sparkling Collins portrait pose that is atypically situated between four period-style baseball bats to form a classic diamond frame. Most significantly, the four gold borders are uncharacteristically unblemished, retaining virtually all of their original gold hues. The well-centered/sparkling image is accompanied by pinpoint corners, brilliant surfaces and an immaculate "Hassan Cigarettes" ad back. All of these world-class attributes substantiate the magnificent assessment that is widely considered one of the more popular T205 variations, and stands tall as the finest SGC specimen of its kind!
