(LOT 175)
"Unique for the Grade" 1962 Topps Harmen Killebrew #70 PSA Gem Mint 10 Marvel The Only PSA 10 Extant!

Presented here just happens to be one of the most extraordinary post WWII cards on the planet, an irrefutable "One of One" PSA Gem Mint 10 cardboard gem of the legendary Hall of Fame slugger Harmen Killebrew! Indeed, at the time this was written, PSA had encapsulated 930 Harmen Killebrew 1962 examples with only this SOLE prized offering enable to capture the hallowed and "near-impossible" Gem Mint 10 assessment. Collectors truly realize that the ultra-sensitive wood-grain borders place the 1962 Topps issue as one of the toughest to find Mint or better cards. PSA's illustrious "Pop' chart substantiates that notion, reflecting only a microscopic-like .05% (107 copies) of the $215,000+ listed specimens with the hallowed 10 grade. Power hitting Harmon Killebrew was one of the baseball's most prolific home run hitters, with the Cooperstown Inductee clouting 573 lifetime dingers.

When he retired, he was ranked third behind Ruth and Kiner in home run frequency, led the league in home runs six separate seasons, was an 11-time all-star and claimed an A.L. MVP award in 1969. One of the true "nice guys" of baseball, Killebrew's personality and aforementioned achievements have made him very popular with collectors, with this "one of a kind" Gem Mint 10 marvel truly worthy of the pinnacle grade. Every conceivable technical attribute is synonymous with "perfection" including a pristine-like batting image of the Twins icon that portrays rich hues and nearly "dead-on" 50/50 centering. Atypically, the wood-grain borders are immaculate, ending at four blistering sharp corner tips that could easily draw blood. Surfaces are "pack-fresh", the crystal-clear clarity is second to none, and the verso reveals no flaws whatsoever. Simply stated, this "unique for the grade" offering exemplifies perfection at its best, with its SOLE PSA "Gem Mint 10" standing unquestionably placing it as the finest of its kind!
