1928 World Series Game#1 - Babe Ruth Scores the First Run of the Series on Gehrig RBI Double! PSA Type I Associated Press Measures Approx. 8" x 10" Encapsulated PSA Type 1

The 1928 World Series would pit the New York Yankees versus the St. Louis Cardinals, with game one played at Yankee Stadium on October 4, 1928. The Yankees had just captured their third consecutive pennant, having crushed the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1927 Fall Classic via a four-game sweep. In 1926, the Cardinals had bested the Yankees in a tightly contested seven game series as the legendary Grover Alexander closed the door on the mighty "Murderers Row" in game seven. Thus, the stage was set for this classic rematch that pitted superstars Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, and Combs against Redbird legends such as Frisch, Bottomley, Martin and Maranville. In Game#1 at Yankees Stadium, in the bottom of the first, Babe Ruth would stroke a double with two outs, and Gehrig would then wallop a double to deep right center to score the first run of the 1928 Fall Classic.

The Yankees would go on to win the game 4-1, and then win the next three games to sweep the Cardinals for their second consecutive World Series 4-game sweep! This brilliant 8" x 10" photo depicts the immortal Babe Ruth scoring that inaugural Fall Classic run as he crosses home plate and heads towards the Yankees dugout. The well-centered image has amazingly retained a majority of its original attributes, portraying spectacular registration and contrast, and relatively clean surfaces. The only noteworthy flaw is a "more than forgiving" diminutive chip along the upper edge, with the verso depicting the Associated Press Photo credit stamp and critical caption detailing the "Bambino" scoring on Gehrig's RBI double. A seemingly "timeless" 90-year old heirloom, it conjures up wonderful memories of how George Herman Ruth led the New York Yankees to two consecutive championships via his unparalleled diamond dominance! - Full PSA/DNA Type I LOA
