(LOT 87)
1959 Topps #514 Bob Gibson Rookie PSA 9 MINT

HOOT MINT ROOKIE!!! Every so often a card comes along that leaves even the high end collector "speechless', a card with eye appeal so breathtaking, it exceeds the qualities assumed by the term "pack fresh". Such is the case for this 1959 Topps Rookie Card masterpiece of the immortal right handed Hall of Famer Bob Gibson presented in an absolutely brilliant PSA MINT 9 holder; one of only a few at this stratospheric plateau with 3 cards grading higher! Hall of Famer Bob Gibson is certainly one of the greatest pitchers who ever lived.

The pinnacle of Gibson's career was 1968, when he set a modern baseball record by posting a 1.12 ERA for the season, then followed that by recording 17 strikeouts during Game 1 of the 1968 World Series. Over the course of his career, Gibson became known for his fierce competitive nature and the intimidation factor he used against opposing batters. Gibson threw a no-hitter during the 1971 season. The most popular card in the 1959 set, this Bob Gibson Rookie card easily made it into a MINT 9 holder. This one is among the top 9's ever graded as it was chosen over many PSA 9's by our consignee. Bordering perfection, this one's a keeper. Just 3 cards grading the perfect 10.
