(LOT 45)
1915 Cracker Jack #23 Charles Comiskey (SGC 96 MINT 9) - "1 of 2"; Highest Graded Example on Both the SGC & PSA Pop Charts!

Loaded with many of our National Pastime's Cooperstown inductees, many enthusiasts consider the Cracker Jack issues to be amongst the most popular pre-WWI cards manufactured. Issued in 1914 and 1915, their colorful lithographic images and vibrant red background hues provide the ultimate picturesque quality sought after by elite collectors. One of the Hall of Famer subjects, Chicago White Sox owner Charles Comiskey, is offered here in a breathtaking SGC "Mint 9", with only a single other SGC specimen at this lofty tier and the HIGHEST GRADED example on BOTH the SGC and PSA census reports!

Hall of Fame 1st baseman and owner Charles Comiskey is famous for being the founding father of the Chicago White Sox, and being their owner for 31 years. On the field, he revolutionized the 1st base position by allowing pitchers to cover the bag on ground balls hit wide of 1st base, and he was one of the original managers to position fielders for different batters. Adorned with his famous hat, Comiskey's portrait image is absolutely brilliant, set against a brilliant fire engine red background, and encompassed by four dazzling white borders. Fine centering with a modest "tilt" towards the upper right corner, sharp corners and vivid print registration complete this magnificent keepsake that reigns supreme on all of the hobby's illustrious population reports!
