Extremely Rare 1910 Chicago Cubs World Series Program
The 1910 World Series would see the National League champion Chicago Cubs face-off against Connie Mack's American League pennant-winning Philadelphia Athletics. The Cubs, led by Hall of Fame player/manager Frank Chance had captured the World Series crown only two years earlier, while legendary field general Connie Mack was seeking his inaugural title with his renowned Athletics squad. Both squads were loaded with future Hall of Famers including the likes of Chance, Tinker, Evers, Brown, Mack, Baker, Bender, Plank and Collins. In five games, the Athletics would capture their first World Championship, winning the first two games at Shibe Park and taking two out of three games at Chicago's West Side Park.

Athletics star hurler Jack Coombs would win three games (Bender capturing the other A's victory) while "Three Fingered" Brown would win Chicago's only game by a 4-3 score in game number 4. Any of the World Series programs from the 1910 contest are extremely tough to locate, with the Chicago program issued for games 3 5 a much more difficult find than the Philadelphia scorecard. With that in mind, presented here is a fabulous Chicago Cubs 1910 Fall Classic unscored program that has amazingly survived in EX condition. Other than the missing Athletics scoring page, the reaming program is completely intact with a solid spine, no glaring tears, creasing or soiling.

The front cover boldly reads in black/beige print: "SOUVENIR SCORE BOOK WORLDS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES. - CHICAGO 1910." Beneath this elaborate caption is the Athletics large Elephant mascot with two likewise large Bears (Cubs Mascot) situated on both sides of the elephant. A standing Connie Mack is situated near the elephant's hind legs while an oval portrait of Frank Chance resides between the elephant and right-side bear. The inside cover reveals a large oval portrait image of Cub's president Charles W. Murphy with four bears located in near each corner/quadrant. Most significantly, the interior pages portray oval portrait images of the Chicago Cubs major players including Tinker, Evers, Brown, Reulbach, and Steinfeldt, as well as two pages depicting super-sized images of managers Chance and Mack.

Along with the typical period-style ads, there are a significant number of political candidates for electoral related positions on various pages due to the upcoming election-day (November 8th) being only a month away. The Cubs un-scored scorecard is positioned in the middle while the aforementioned Athletics scorecard is unfortunately missing (along with what we assume to be a missing Chicago team picture on the following page). To the right of the Cubs scorecard is an imposing Philadelphia A's team picture and the remaining pages include additional ads, several Chicago West Side Ballpark pictures and a clean back cover. One of the most challenging World Series scorecards to surface, it rekindles memories of when these two mighty ball clubs battled for a baseball championship, with the Athletics ultimately capturing their inaugural Fall Classic victory; the first of three titles (1910, 1911, 1913) they would win in a four-year span!
