(LOT 673)
Charles Comiskey HOF'er Typed Signed Letter Dated August 19th, 1919 PSA/DNA LOA

Comiskey, nicknamed "Commy" or "The Old Roman", was a player, manager and team owner. He starts the letter in a comforting tone, "My dear young man:" H goes onto explain to the young lad, "we have not as of yet made up our minds for the coming season as to the purchase of any players". Comiskey was a key person in the formation of the American League, and was also founding owner of the Chicago White Sox. Comiskey Park, the White Sox' storied baseball stadium, was built under his guidance and named for him. PSA/DNA LOA included.

Comiskey's reputation was permanently tarnished by his team's involvement in the Black Sox Scandal but he was inducted as an executive into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939.
