c.1920's Eddie Collins Type I Original ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 7" x 9" - PSA Type 1 Encapsulation
This outstanding Eddie Collins PSA Type 1 photo portrays the legendary Hall of Famer in a classic leaping pose as he snares the baseball in his period style glove. Donning his Athletics uniform near the end of his remarkable career, Collins was picked up by Connie Mack in 1927 (along with Cobb and Speaker) in an effort to overtake the dominating New York Yankees, with Collins batting an imposing .336 in his inaugural A's season. Along with Hornsby and Lajoie, many baseball historians rightfully consider Eddie Collins to be one of the greatest 2nd baseman of all-time. His statistical achievements make a strong case for this argument including a staggering .333 lifetime average accumulated via 3,315 safeties.
Collins was also a complete player, widely regarded as the best fielding 2nd baseman of his era, and was a fantastic base runner, swiping 741 bases throughout a spectacular 25-year career. His awe-inspiring sepia-toned portrayal reveals crystal clear clarity and superior contrast, with only a faint diagonal wrinkle situated to the right of the left border. No glaring flaws are evident on either side, with the verso including the significant ACME Newspictures credit stamp. Original Type 1 Eddie Collins photos from his playing days seldom surface for the taking, justifying why we expect a number of elite enthusiasts to pursue this world-class Collins image! - PSA Type I Encapsulation
