(LOT 37)
1933 Multi-Signed A.L. Harridge Baseball with EXTREMELY BOLD Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Autographs on the SAME PANEL (Additional HOF Signatures on Other Panels incl. Cuyler, Dean and Frisch)! - PSA/DNA LOA

Baseball has never and will never again see a dynamic batting duo such as the immortal Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who for a full decade wrecked unimaginable havoc on opposing pitchers. Indeed, these two iconic sluggers "back-to-back" presence in the New York Yankees batting order resulted in a seemingly infinite number of performances that ultimately led to four American League Pennants and three World Championships. Their unparalleled achievements in the Yankees amazing 1927 season saw them combine for an unfathomable 107 home runs, 60 of which were clouted by the incomparable "Sultan of Swat", with these two baseball giants forming the heart and soul of the renowned "Murderer's Row"!

To place their coupled performance in perspective, from 1925 thru 1934 (Ruth's last season w/the Yankees), they combined to hit an unprecedented 771 round trippers for a ten-year average of 77 per season or nearly 39 each per season over that time span! No wonder they continue to be the "heart and soul" of the vintage collecting community with an Official American League (A.L.) Will Harridge baseball signed by both Ruth and Gehrig arguably the most sought-after collectible for these exalted Cooperstown inductees. That said, presented here is an Official A.L. Harridge baseball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on the SAME side panel! Extraordinary to say the least, finding BOTH of their signatures on the same panel is synonymous with finding a "needle in a haystack", since most of their scripted balls portray Ruth on the sweet spot and Gehrig on an adjacent panel.

Although the red/green stitched Harridge ball is heavily toned (significant browning), the "Babe Ruth" and "Lou Gehrig" signatures are extremely bold and vivid, with both black fountain pen autographs conservatively portraying solid "9-Mint" strength! Amazingly, this offering appears to have been a game used baseball from a Yankees game versus the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park on June 17, 1933, with someone scripting the following notation on the sweet spot: "USED IN MAJOR LEAGUE GAME – NEW YORK YANKEES vs. CHICAGO WHITE SOX – JUNE 17, 1933." Additional side panel signatures obviously obtained at a later date include Hall of Famers Dizzy Dean, Kiki Cuyler and Frankie Frisch, and you can still see the factory issued "OFFICIAL American League Ball" markings.

Most significantly, however, is the fact that both the Ruth and Gehrig scripts can be displayed as a "single" Ruth/Gehrig" signed baseball. Historically speaking, on June 17, 1933 before approximately 8,000 fans, the Yankees would defeat the White Sox by an 8-3 score with Gehrig being the hitting star of the day via his 4-5 performance that included a 2-run homer (Ruth was 0-4 with a walk and run scored). While we do not know with any certainty if Ruth and Gehrig signed this baseball that particular June 17, 1933 day, what we surly recognize is that their hallowed scripts exhibit incredible bold quality and near-perfect clarity on an atypical single panel. A super rare prospect to capture extremely bold signatures of this iconic tandem on the same panel of a game used A.L. baseball, this grand opportunity may not present itself again for quite some time! - Full PSA/DNA LOA
