1989 Perez Steele Celebration Set (Signed by every possible player except 3 that were deceased when set was issued, 41/44) PSA/DNA Encapsulated
This 1989 Perez-Steele Autographed Celebration set is complete with signed examples for all 41 cards that could have possibly been signed in the 44 card set, each of which has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (all of the signatures are certified as "Authentic"). The remaining three cards in the set (Gomez, Terry, and J. Johnson) could not have been signed because each of the respective players passed away during the production of the set. The Perez-Steele Celebration set was issued in 1989 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame and the 10th anniversary of the Perez-Steele Galleries.

Issued in cooperation with the Hall of Fame, it is one of the most beautifully designed and elaborately produced sets issued in modern times. The issue was limited to 10,000 sets and featured cards for 44 Hall of Famers who were still living at the time the set was produced (in consideration of autograph collectors), plus a checklist. The art is painted in the style of the W. S. Kimball tobacco set of 1888. The offered set is #1262 except for 4 cards which have different serial #'s. Dickey-6706, Aaron-9449, Cool Papa Bell-1512 and Conlon-4844. In addition to those 4 signed cards which don't match the other serial #'s, the unsigned cards that match the serial #'s are also included-including the cards which couldn't have been signed based on timing of those ball players passing before production started.

The 41 signed cards in this set (representing every possible signed card) are Aaron-10, Aparicio-10, Banks-10, Bell-A, Bench-A, Berra-10, Boudreau-10, Campanella-A, Chandler-A, Conlan-A, Dandridge-10, Dickey-10, Doerr-10, Ferrell-10, Gehringer-10, Herman-10, Hunter-10, Irvin-10, Kaline-10, Kell-10, Killebrew-10, Kiner-10, Lemon-10, Leonard-10, Lopez-10, Mantle-10, Marichal-10, Mathews-10, McCovey-10, Mize-10, Musial-10, Reese-10, B. Robinson-10, Sewell-10, Slaughter-10, Snider-10, Spahn-10, Stargell-10, B. Williams-10, T. Williams-10, and Yastrzemski-10. All of the signatures are boldly scripted in blue or black Sharpie on the front, grading "9-10," in our opinion except for James Cool Papa Bell which has been signed in ball point pen.
