Jimmy Foxx Type 1 Original 1929 Associated Press Photo – Measures Approx. 6" x 8" - Full PSA Type 1 LOA
Along with Hornsby & Aaron, many baseball historians consider Jimmy Foxx one of the greatest right-handed hitters in baseball history. Nicknamed "The Beast" because of his supernatural-like power, Foxx terrorized pitchers to the tune of 534 lifetime home runs, was a triple-crown winner in 1933, and along with Gehrig, knocked in a record 100 or more runs in 13 consecutive seasons! This sensational September 1929 Associated Press "6 x 8" Type I original Foxx photo portrays his classic swinging pose as "XX" looks as if he is walloping another one of his mammoth blasts. Still with the Philadelphia Athletics early in his remarkable career, 1929 would eventually prove to be another incredible season for the "Goliath-like" slugger as Foxx would belt 33 round trippers, knock in 133 runs and post an outstanding .354 batting average; leading his Athletics to their first World Championship since 1913.
Donning his Athletics uniform, Foxx's imposing batting illustration is crystal clear as the mighty slugger portrays his classic swing during a leisurely "before the game" moment. The central image is virtually unscathed with the two major blemishes issues being a horizontal crease situated along the lower right quadrant and a clipped lower left corner. The verso reveals a light Associated Press Stamp as well as a bold pinkish "Sept. 19, 1929 stamped date. Unfortunately, a majority of the original caption has been torn off, yet considering the crystal-clear Foxx central image still retains a majority of its original luster, the fine aesthetics place this extremely scarce Foxx heirloom as a premier collectible for any advanced enthusiast! - Full PSA Type I LOA
