The 1911 season would see the immortal Christy Mathewson compile another sensational record, winning 26 games with a microscopic 1.99 E.R.A., his fourth consecutive season in which he posted a sub-2.00 E.R.A! Leading the Giants to the National League pennant, Mathewson's 20+ wins was the ninth consecutive time he would accomplish that feat, eventually going on to win 20+ games three more seasons. As a testament to that magnificent 1911 performance, presented here is an outstanding 1911 Matty PSA Type 1 photo taken by the renowned photographer Paul Thompson. This superior offering portrays the iconic "Big Six" in a classic pitching pose with the majestic right-handed twirler donning his 1911 period style black uniform.
