(LOT 127)
Babe Ruth Type 1 Original c.1920's Keystone View Co. Photo – Measures Approx. 8-1/4" x 9-1/2" - Full PSA Type 1 LOA

The laundry list of pinnacle baseball immortals includes the likes of Ty Cobb, Joe Jackson, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams and so many more, yet NO other player can possibly boast the unparalleled stature of the incomparable George Herman "Babe" Ruth. The 'Bambino's" incredible diamond achievements virtually defied logic, and it is mind boggling to think Ruth would have been a Hall of Fame PITCHER had the unflappable southpaw continued his career as a left-handed ace. Ruth's zenith stature has landed him a place above the game itself, and one can only be left scratching their heads when you consider he walloped more home runs than nearly all of the ball clubs in the early 1920's.

No wonder sophisticated enthusiasts seek a myriad of his artifacts issued during his playing days, with this outstanding 1920's Type I photo portraying the "Sultan of Swat" in one of his classic follow-though swings during batting practice. Measuring approximately 8-1/4" x 9-1/2" (rather large for a 1920's photo), you can literally feel Ruth's pre-game intensity as he dons his classic Yankees cap and pantaloons, wearing what appears to be a long sleeve sweatshirt before game-time. Magnificent clarity and contrast "steal the show" for this extremely rare image, with the central image eluding any obtrusive blemishes.

Three of the corners are missing their utmost tips, and a left border triangle shaped chip is evident that extends into a peripheral diagonal tear that in no way whatsoever diminishes the stellar aesthetics of the central image. The verso reveals two different Keystone View Co. stamps, the final exclamation point for an image that reveals a rather thin "Bambino" during the prime of his legendary Yankee career! – Full PSA Type I LOA
