(LOT 102)
T206 Joe McGinnity – Sweet Caporal 350 Subjects/Factory 30 (PSA NM/MT 8) - "1 of 1" Sweet Caps; NO Sweet Caps Graded Higher"!

Get ready folks and catch your breath because one of the most amazing PSA 8 specimens is now presented here; New York Giants legendary Hall of Fame twirler "Iron Man" Joe McGinnity in a breathtaking PSA 8 holder. This astonishing offering just happens to be the SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED Sweet Caporal McGinnity listed on the illustrious PSA "Pop" Charts! Hall of Famer Joe "Iron Man" McGinnity received his legendary nickname after winning 5 games in 6 days for the Brooklyn ball club in 1900. The nickname stuck due to his continuous efforts to pitch both games of doubleheaders, eventually leading to two consecutive-30+ win seasons in 1903 and 1904.

Along with Christy Mathewson, the Giant's immortal pitching duo wrecked havoc on National league hitters, winning a World Championship in the 1905 when Christy and "Iron Man" mowed down Connie Mack's Athletics in the World Series. After 10 successful Major League seasons, McGinnity called it quits after 1908, taking on the dual role as Newark Indians manager and pitcher. He won 59 games his first two seasons including 30 in 1910, remaining as manager through the 1912 season. Incredibly, he continued pitching minor league baseball until he was 54 years old, tallying over 200 minor-league wins over that lengthy span. Synonymous with McGinnity's legendary prestige is this near-immaculate T206 PSA 8 gem that certainly appears to have just been pulled from a pack of Sweet Cap cigarettes.

Depicted in his Newark minor league uniform, McGinnity's classic pitching pose is affixed to a seemingly flawless red background, with the contrast and sparkling colors schemes of his facial hues, period style cap and uniform virtually un-improvable. Even more amazing is the virtually "dead-on" 50/50 centering between four blinding white borders that end at a blistering sharp perimeter. In summary, you would be hard-pressed to find another McGinnity T206 equaling this keepsake's brilliant aesthetics, especially considering it stands tall as the finest Sweet Cap example of its kind!
