(LOT 100)
T206 Nap Lajoie "w/Bat" – Piedmont 350 Subjects/Factory 25 (PSA NM/MT 8) - "1 of 2 Piedmonts; No Piedmonts Graded Higher"!

One of our National Pastime's greatest second sackers ever is the immortal Napoleon Lajoie, with his T206 "Batting" subject offered here in a scintillating PSA 8 holder. One of only two Piedmont specimens at this ultra-high tier, PSA's "Pop" chart lists no other Piedmont examples with a higher grade! For 21 seasons, Nap Lajoie terrorized American League hurlers, amassing a colossal 3,200+ hits and .338 lifetime batting average. Along with Hornsby and Collins, he is widely recognized as one of the three greatest 2nd baseman to ever command that position, and his unfathomable .426 batting average in 1901 still stands as a modern-day record.

Somewhat synonymous with that record is this record setting offering that likewise qualifies with a handful of other subjects as the finest of its kind! Lajoie's classic "holding bat" illustration depicts incredible robust colors including his period like gray Cleveland uniform and cap. Stellar contrast, fine centering and a brilliant mixture of tranquil like yellow, orange and green background hues are additional compliments to this time defying image that resides between four dazzling white borders. Strong right-angled corners, virtually flawless surfaces and a nearly pristine bold blue Piedmont Cigarettes 350 Subjects ad back complete this cardboard gem that synonymous with Lajoie's remarkable legacy, has withstood the test of time!
