(LOT 97)
T206 Addie Joss "Pitching" - Sweet Caporal 350 Subjects/Factory 30 (PSA NM/MT 8)

Presented here is another brilliantly preserved T206 Hall of Famer, a remarkable PSA 8 "Pitching" specimen of the immortal right-handed twirler Addie Joss. Currently, PSA's "pop" chart indicates that only 4 other "Sweet Cap" examples exist at this lofty tier with NONE graded higher! One of the most underrated pitchers in baseball history is the beloved Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame twirler Addie Joss who owns the second lowest lifetime E.R.A. of all-time, a microscopic 1.89 figure. Author of two no-hitters, in 1908 Joss tossed a perfect game against the Chicago White Sox when he bested the great Ed Walsh 1-0 in one of the greatest pitched games in baseball history.

Joss cards hold a special place with pure vintage collectors since he tragically passed away in April 1911, the victim of spinal meningitis. Strikingly similar to Lou Gehrig's legacy, Addie Joss will always be best remembered for his sudden and tragic death, with its unforeseen circumstances far surpassing his incredible accomplishments as one of our National Pastime's finest hurlers. Likewise, his seemingly immaculate "hands at chest" pose displays "world-class" championship caliber via its impeccable gray uniform hues and bright orange/yellow sky setting. Fine centering, bright white borders, razor sharp corner tips, brilliant surfaces, and a bold red "Sweet Caporal Cigarette 350 Subjects" advertisement provide the final touches to one of the premier Addie Joss T206 specimens extant!
