(LOT 86)
T206 George Davis – Piedmont 150 Subjects/Factory 25 (PSA NM/MT+ 8.5) - "1 of 1" Sweet Caps; NO Sweet Caps Graded Higher"!

Hall of Fame shortstop/3rd baseman George Davis is presented here in one of his finest T206 cards in existence. Graded an outstanding PSA 8.5, it stands alone atop the PSA "Pop" chart as the SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED Piedmont Cigarettes example! Davis batted over .300 nine consecutive seasons with the New York Giants before joining Comiskey's White Sox in 1902. His Chicago years were turbulent to say the least, with Davis relentlessly fighting to return to the Giants due to Comiskey's "penny pinching" ways. Unfortunately, for Davis, he was eventually forced to end his career with the Chicago club, and was finally voted into Cooperstown by the Veteran's Committee in 1998.

Synonymous with his enshrinement into baseball's illustrious Hall of Fame is his breathtaking representation on this Cooperstown worthy cardboard offering. A brilliant Davis throwing pose depicting him donning his period style Chicago uniform is elevated to stratospheric heights via the bold midnight blue hues making up his White Sox uniform. Furthermore, the robust orange and green background significantly projects his image to "3-D like" status. Pinpoint corners, razor sharp edging and a pristine like surface complete a remarkable obverse side. Any high-grade PSA T206 gathering would gladly welcome this exalted George Davis tobacco Piedmont artifact that stands alone at the top of the "Pop" charts!
