(LOT 72)
T206 Cy Young Bare Hand Showing "Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects/Factory 30" (PSA NM/MT 8) - "1 of 1 Sweet Cap"; NONE Graded Higher!

While all Cooperstown inductees merit some sense of baseball immortality, only a handful of these stars can be designated as baseball's immortals. Such a player's worldly accomplishments not only surpass statistical expectations, but provide a path of excellence for thousands who follow in their glorious footsteps. Cy Young, the legendary author of baseball's unbreakable record of 511 lifetime victories, certainly falls in this iconic class to the extent that baseball's annual award for pitching excellence will forever carry his revered name.

Coincidently, his representation on this miraculous PSA 8 Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects PSA 8 offering is worthy of a hollowed stature reserved for only a few existing cards. Currently, the PSA "Pop" Chart lists this as the SOLE "Sweet Cap" copy at this hallowed tier, with NO "Bare Hand Showing" Sweet Cap subjects graded higher! No baseball player could possibly receive a greater honor than having an award named after him, the ultimate compliment to a player's lifetime achievements. Yet, when you consider that Denton "Cy" Young won 511 baseball games, pitched over 7,000 innings, won over 20 games fifteen times and 30 games five times, it was a "no-brainer" when the baseball writers of America chose his name to forever represent an annual award for pitching excellence.

Considering his incomprehensible statistical achievements, it is only fitting there still exists a handful of remarkable cardboard keepsakes synonymous with his unparalleled legacy. This offering is certainly one of those cards, providing the collector with extraordinary eye pleasing qualities consistent with its original release date over a century ago. Young's classic pitching pose depicts crystal clear clarity, with his facial tints, uniform hues, and radiant yellow background as sparkling as the day a cigarette smoker pulled this museum worthy masterpiece from a cigarette pack.

The relatively well centered image only slightly favors the upper edge between four snow white borders, with the precision cut right angled corners, razor sharp edging and an astonishing clean surface completing the breathtaking obverse side. The "Sweet Caporal Cigarettes" verso is, likewise, near pristine, depicting bold and vivid red typography affixed to an ultra-clean white surface. It's unfathomable to imagine this card's overall aesthetics possibly surpassing Young's pitching feats, yet one-look at this "World Class" offering would prompt even the finest collector to second that notion.

In summary, all attributes of this card lead to the term "pack fresh" with its overall aesthetics so breathtaking that even the elite collector gets excited about the opportunity of claiming its ultimate ownership!
