(LOT 59)
1910 E98 "Black Swamp" George Mullin - Red Background (PSA NM/MT 8) – "1 of 4"

One of the "low pop" high-grade Black Swamp E98's, this spectacular PSA 8 George Mullin red background offering is one of only 4 at this tier with 1 graded higher! "Wabash George" was a hard-throwing country boy who won 29 games for the Tigers in 1909. Three years later, Mullin would no-hit the Browns on his birthday, the 4th of July 1912 and while he will never be considered for Cooperstown status, this outstanding E98 representation of the by-gone hurler will forever remain as one of his "claims to fame"! Mullin's classic pitching pose exhibits brilliant aesthetics, highlighted by a seemingly flawless re background, near-perfect centering and dazzling white borders. The razor-sharp perimeter, fine corner tips and clean verso complete this 107-year old masterpiece that along with a handful of other copies, resides as the "best of the rest"! CATALOG ERROR. THIS CARD IS A POP 4 WITH 1 CARD GRADING HIGHER.
