1962 Post Cereal #5 Mickey Mantle "Perforated/Life Magazine w/Ad Back PSA 8 NM-MT
POST CEREAL MICK!!!... In 1962, Post Cereal issued another 200-subject set similar to their successful 1961 compilation. Including 10 variations, the set's most popular and valuable subject was once again the iconic Yankees center-fielder Mickey Mantle. An additional method of obtaining Mantle was added in 1962 whereby the popular Life Magazine included a Mantle/Maris insert including a Post Cereal ad back. Presented here is a Mickey Mantle "Perforated" Life Magazine PSA 8 including the coveted Post Cereal advertisement on its verso. Currently, PSA's "Pop" Chart only lists fourteen others at this plateau with thirteen higher graded examples.

In addition to the ad back, another notable difference in the Life Magazine insert cards was the absence of lines in the statistics box. This Mantle gem provide a crystal-clear image of the Yankee legend donning his classic pinstripe jersey in a right-handed batting stance. His name is scripted in bold blue ink (vs. the 1961 "block lettering" format), with the classic batting image, brief "bio" and bold Post Cereal logo exhibiting fine resolution. No glaring surface flaws are evident, the corners are razor sharp, and both the left and right sides reflect perforated edges (as opposed to "hand-cut"). The verso reveals a stellar Post Cereal advertisement, the final exclamation point to one of mantle's more eclectic trading cards that seldom surfaces in high-grade condition!
