(LOT 136)
1933 Sport Kings Knute Rockne #35 (PSA NM/MT 8) - Only 2 Graded Higher!

RED!!!... When the Goudey Gum Co. issued a 48-card set in 1933 titled "Sports Kings" that included the top sports figures in 18 different sports, it was no surprise that they included iconic Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne as one of their premier sports personalities. Presented here is one of the most remarkable remaining specimens of the immortal Rockne in a breathtaking PSA NM/MT 8 holder, with only a paltry 2 examples graded higher! There isn't a single advanced football card enthusiast that doesn't covet a high-grade cardboard specimen of the legendary Knute Rockne. From 1918 thru 1930, Rockne won 105 games for the powerhouse Notre Dame "Fighting Irish" to the tune of an 88.1% winning percentage and 6 National Championships! Along that glorious path, he coached the "Four Horsemen", George "The Gipper" Gipp, and revolutionized the forward pass.

Most significantly and now renowned as Football's Gettysburg Address, was his "fight, fight, fight" locker room speech encouraging his players to elevate their game performance before taking the field. With that in mind, we highly advise you to put up a steadfast "fight" in an effort to win this incredible offering that depicts a stellar Rockne illustration. Brilliant facial hues and a cool green background are the near-immaculate highlights of the obverse side, with the relatively well-centered image residing between four super clean borders. Synonymous with Notre Dame's hard-hitting defense, the corners are so blistering sharp they could draw blood, and not a single glaring surface blemish is evident on either side. The verso exhibits pristine-like typography, the final exclamation point to one of the finest Knute Rockne 1933 Sport Kings on the planet, and a cardboard gem only bested by two meager PSA examples!
