(LOT 128)
#2 PSA Registered 1958 Bell Brand Dodgers 10-Card Set - 8.57 Weighted G.P.A. w/Top Pop Bonuses!

Arguably the most celebrated of all Major League baseball's relocation projects was when the Dodgers and Giants relocated from New York City to the West Coast after the 1957 season. While the New York fan base was decimated, San Francisco and Los Angeles were ecstatic, with their beloved cities now hosting Major League baseball for the first time in the state of California. To commemorate this landmark event, the Los Angeles based Bell Brand manufacturer issued a 10-card Dodger baseball card set, with individual cards placed in their Potato and Corn Chip products. Measuring approximately 3" x 4", these rather oversized cards include sepia toned images of the most popular Dodger players, framed by a green woodgrain border.

The verso's include both a brief player "bio" and statistical information as well as the elaborate Bell Brand logo near the lower edge with the set including Cooperstown inductees Campanella, Drysdale, Koufax, Reese and Snider. Extremely obscure in high grade, many of these oversized cards were subject to abusive handling from the myriad of kids that purchased the potato/corn chip products. That said, this remarkable 10-card complete 1958 Bell Brand Dodgers compilation just happens to reside as the second finest gathering on the illustrious PSA Set Registry. Accumulating an amazing 8.57 Weighted G.P.A. w/Top Pop Bonuses, no card has been graded lower than a "NM/MT 8", with a single "Mint 9" and "NM/MT+ 8.5" also included in this time defying compilation! Three cards stand as "highest graded examples" (Hodges, Podres & Snider) with the Snider being the SOLE highest graded specimen of its kind. All of the cards project eye appeal consistent with their merited technical assessment; substantiating the notion they appear as if they have just been pulled from a bag of Bell Brand potato chips.

Of interesting note is while Campanella never played a single game with Los Angeles due to his career-ending car accident that left him paralyzed for life, he is still included in the set; thus placing Campanella's Bell Brand subject as one of his final baseball card issues. In order to provide you with the extensive details regarding the population report statistics, we have included the attached chart that lists all 10 subjects, their respective PSA grades and "pop" status. An extraordinary high-grade 1958 Bell Brand Dodgers set, it merits the highest accolades from the most sophisticated cardboard enthusiasts!
