(LOT 83)
1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle Autographed Card PSA Auto 9 Encapsulated

MANTLE AUTO!!!... The undisputed "Babe Ruth" of the Post-WW II card market, values for Mickey Mantle's highly coveted cardboard heirlooms have soared to stratospheric heights with no end seemingly insight. While his unparalleled mystique is still a profound mystery, one can only assume that his "Goliath-like" un-worldly power was one of the main drivers of his legendary hero stature. Worshiped by millions of fans, Mickey Mantle could hit a baseball further than anyone who ever played the game, and even in lieu of a "steroids driven" environment, no baseball player can wallop a baseball further than Mantle. Incredibly, the "Commerce Comet" hit two balls off the façade at Yankee Stadium, and his 565-foot home run off Senators hurler Chuck Stobbs at Griffith Stadium in 1953 still stands as the longest official ball ever hit in a Major-League game.

As a grand testament for his unbridled legacy, presented here just happens to be a sensational signed Mantle 1953 Topps card depicting an extremely bold PSA Mint 9 black sharpie signature; one of only 32 total signed examples listed on PSA's prestigious "pop" chart! Further enhancing its appeal are the superb central image aesthetics including a sparkling portrait pose of "The Mick" stealing the show along with the breathtaking black sharpie autograph scripted directly beneath Mantle's iconic image. Even corner wear/layering and a few stray diagonal creases predominately situated near several of the card's corners are the primary blemishes placing this offering as an approximate "VG" example. Yet, more significantly, it is the stellar Mantle pose and accompanying autograph that place this offering at an esteemed level.

Interestingly enough, there are currently 90+ encapsulated PSA 8 1953 Topps Mantle's that are now valued at roughly $30-$40K apiece, with only a fraction of the '53 Mantle PSA "pop" count depicting his hallowed autograph. In a previous Memory Lane auction, a similar PSA Mint 9 signed 1953 Mantle fetched nearly $15K, more than justifying why this remarkable offering merits the utmost attention from any advanced collector! the Auto as a MINT 9. Spectacular find showcasing this MINT Autograph of Mickey Mantle on his 1953 Topps card.
