MANTLE!!!... Every collector knows the significance of the renowned 1952 Mantle Topps rookie. Its place in the card industry as the most important post WWII cards is solidified. To own a 52 Mantle is another issue, due to its high demand and price. For Topps collectors, there is however, an alternative path: this 1953 Topps issue. Simply finding a high grade 2nd year Mantle Topps card is almost impossible. The "Mick" is the winner of 12 pennants and 7 World Championships and he was the classic American hero, idolized by millions of fans largely in part as a result of his supernatural power that produced tape measure home runs. The card presented here, likewise, portrays all of the HOF qualities one would expect from a powerful champion. The ultra-popular, resounding portrait lithograph of Mantle wearing his Yankee cap is nicely registered, set against a pleasant stadium backdrop.
