(LOT 67)
Amazing 1938 Goudey #250 "Head's Up" Signed Joe DiMaggio – The Only Signed 1938 Goudey #250 DiMaggio on PSA "Pop" Chart (PSA Mint 9 Autograph)

Joe DiMaggio's unequivocal stature will outlast eternity, with this graceful Hall of Fame centerfielder forever standing as a National hero. His iconic stature, with the exception of Yankee predecessor Babe Ruth, far exceeds any player who ever played baseball, and his 56 game hitting streak may suffice as baseball's greatest record, such to the point that a song was written about Joe that same season personifying everything he meant to the game. Whether it is his hitting streak, MVPs, World Championships or marriage to the legendary Marilyn Monroe, "Joe D" has always and will forever be not only a baseball Hall of Fame immortal but, more significantly, one of America's most exalted legends.

With that in mind, presented here is one of Joe DiMaggio's rarest artifacts, an autographed 1938 Goudey #250 "Head's Up" baseball card, sporting a period style and extremely bold PSA Mint 9 autograph. Scripted in bold blue fountain pen, this ultra-rare offering stands as the SOLE example listed on the illustrious PSA Population Report, with the signature a period style DiMaggio script from the late 1930's/early 1940's period! The card itself likewise portrays magnificent NM+ aesthetics, revealing a sparkling DiMaggio image, relatively clean surfaces, right-angled corners, and no glaring blemishes. More significantly, this remarkable offering stands alone on the "pop" charts, with its magnificent Mint 9 autograph placing it as one of our hobby's most sought after signed keepsakes. It is no secret that desirable signed baseball cards are achieving record setting prices each and every day, with two signed DiMaggio Pebble Beach postcards both fetching $35K+ over the past six months.

To reiterate, we cannot over emphasize the significance of "Joltin Joe's" place not only in baseball history, but as an American hero. Amazing to say for a baseball player, he takes a solidified place next to legendary Americans such as Abe Lincoln, Davey Crockett, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and, coincidently Marilyn Monroe. It comes as little surprise that in 1969, DiMaggio was voted as the greatest living ballplayer, earning this nod over the likes of Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, and so many more of our National Pastime's living legends. That said, what could possibly be more rewarding than capturing his finest signed 1938 Goudey card that is currently listed as the SOLE exemplar on ANY grading companies' population reports!
