(LOT 52)
"Unique for the Grade" 1911 Turkey Red #35 Joe Tinker (PSA 6) - "1 of 1; Only 2 PSA Examples Graded Higher!

No pre-war cardboard issues can possibly boast the "spine-tingling" aesthetics of the Turkey Red cabinet sized cards distributed in 1911. These oversized premiums were obtained by mailing in coupons from Turkey Red, Old Mill and Fez brand cigarettes, and are arguably considered by most vintage card experts as the most attractive and exquisite cards ever produced in our treasured hobby. Presented here just happens to be one of the finest preserved copies extant, a magnificent PSA 6 example of Hall of Fame shortstop Joe Tinker that is "unique for the grade" and bested by a mere two 6.5 examples! Joe Tinker's legendary status stems from being the first link in the iconic "Tinker to Evers to Chance" double play combination that ably assisted Chicago in claiming consecutive championships in 1907 and 1908.

Avid Cub's fans agree that is no small task since it took 108 years for their worshiped Cubs to capture their next World Series title! Synonymous with those championship seasons are the breathtaking esthetics of this "time-defying" marvel that portrays a spectacular Tinker throwing pose in his gray-tinted period style Cubs uniform. Brilliant green and orange hues compliment a stellar background, the perimeter includes four somewhat right-angled corners depicting minimal wear and the checklist verso is completely intact. Providing eye appeal nearly consistent with its original release date some 106-years ago, this bygone artifact conjures up vivid memories of when the Cubs dominated America's National Pastime courtesy of their dynamic double-play combination!
