1916 M101-4 #87 Joe Jackson PSA 7 NM

SHOELESS JOE!!!... Joseph Jefferson Jackson, nicknamed "Shoeless Joe", was an American baseball player who played Major League Baseball in the early part of the 20th century. He is remembered for his performance on the field and for his association with the Black Sox Scandal, in which members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox participated in a conspiracy to fix the World Series. As a result of Jackson's association with the scandal, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Major League Baseball's first commissioner, banned Jackson from playing after the 1920 season. Since then, Jackson's guilt has been disputed, and his expulsion from baseball during the prime of his career made him one of the game's legendary figures. Jackson played for three Major League teams during his 12-year career. Jackson, who played left field for most of his career, currently has the 3rd highest career batting average in major league history. In 1911, Jackson hit for a .408 average.

It is still the 6th highest single-season total since 1901, which marked the beginning of the modern era for the sport. His average that year also set the record for batting average in a single season by a rookie. Babe Ruth said that he modeled his hitting technique after Jackson's. One of the game's greats, this Joe Jackson card issued in 1916 is packed with power. This stellar photo shows the great Shoeless in full swing and it's filled with fine details of Joe's features and consider that it is the Sporting News Back version. Overall this card is bright and clean and deserves its PSA NM 7 status. One of only a handful in the PSA 7 holder with just a pair grading higher. Nice pants Joe! Those were the days.
