(LOT 1)
1948 Leaf #3 Babe Ruth (PSA Mint 9) - "1 of 4; NONE Graded Higher!"

Synonymous with the "Sultan of Swat's" pinnacle all-time baseball stature is this absolutely magnificent PSA Mint 9 Leaf offering that stands as the finest of its kind! Indeed, PSA has currently encapsulated 900+ examples of this highly coveted issue with a paltry 3 other specimens at this plateau and NONE graded higher. Every elite enthusiast actively seeks the most prominent Babe Ruth cardboard keepsakes since the "Bambino", via his coupled batting and pitching prowess, set the benchmark that all players would be measured against for centuries to come. He is the one player that is considered "above the game" itself", which is why a seemingly infinite number of collectors actively seek his most treasured artifacts.

It is no secret that the hobby is currently realizing incredible prices for optimum graded rare Hall of Famer issues, and there is NO Cooperstown inductee that could come close to filling Ruth's shoes. His stoic portrait image portrays super resolution and contrast, set against a vibrant orange/red background that appears as flawless as its original 1948 distribution date. Blistering sharp corner tips and perimeter edging provide the final compliments to a spectacular obverse side, and the verso's verbiage, providing some historical content on the "Babe", exhibits bold and vivid registration.

The only modest imperfection is an image that somewhat favors the lower right edges between four snow white borders, and had the centering been slightly superior, we just might be looking at the sole "Gem Mint 10" example. Babe Ruth dominated our National Pastime at a supreme level, and this likewise "best of the rest" memento suffices as the perfect testament for his unparalleled legacy! A 1948 Leaf "Bambino" has not been available at auction in over a decade, when it was consistently valued on par with the big rookie cards in the set, namely the Robinson and the Musial. Clearly a six figure plus card. Bid accordingly!
