1939 American League All-Star Reunion Team-Signed Baseball with 18 Signatures Including DiMaggio, Foxx and Grove
A.L. WINS!!! When the MLB All-Star Game came around on July 11, 1939 at Yankees Stadium, the American League had already won four of the first six events, outscoring the Senior League 25-20. Featuring a lineup brimming with Hall of Famers, Joe DiMaggio and Jimmie Foxx headlined the roster that also included Lou Gehrig, serving as team captain, though he did not play having played his final game on April 30 that same year. Humbly and proudly, he exchanged lineup cards at the start of the game. Offered here is a spectacular 1939 team-signed reunion ball featuring 18 signatures, ironically, on a snowy-white Warren Giles National League baseball. DiMaggio and Rollie Hemsley adorn the sweet spot with 15 player signatures, and manager Joe McCarthy, are penned across the four panels. Hall of Fame talent includes Bill Dickey, Ted Lyons, Jimmie Foxx, Bob Feller, Luke Appling, Lefty Grove, Hank Greenberg and Joe Cronin. Overall, the ball remains very white with only the lightest and slightest toning, with the blue ballpoint signatures ranging from "6-9" strength. This is a magnificent keepsake of the American League's 1939 victorious team that topped the NL with a 3-1 win in only the 7th Mid-Summer Classic.
