1950 Japanese Transfer Pictures Kell/Appling/Thomson/Williams/Musial PSA 1 PR
RARE TED WILLIAMS & STAN MUSIAL!!! It can be difficult at times when trying to describe the scarcity of items, especially when they were produced a half to nearly a century later on the other side of the planet. The 1950 Japanese Transfers are just that type of item considering that only a couple handfuls have surfaced of the nearly 75-year-old issues and to-date PSA has graded only five issues of each of the known sheets. Given the cast of players featured on the presented sheet of ten ballplayers, it is estimated that the Transfers were issued in 1949 or 1950, though PSA has pleasingly deemed them 1950.
Combining Major Leaguers and professional Japanese players, of which there are five of each, this rare sheet presents Hall of Famers George Kell, Luke Appling, Ted Williams and Stan Musial, as well as Bobby Thomson. Also featured are five Japanese baseball heroes including Fujimura, Oshita, Betto, Matsumoto & Hattori. This remarkably clean and crisp Transfers set from nearly 75 years ago has been encased as PR 1 by PSA, though the grade is superfluous to the scarcity as only ten PSA-graded copies are known to exist. This incredibly rare issue and its counterpart, sold as (LOT 1018), are for the eclectic collector seeking the rare and foreign for their elite gathering.
