(LOT 281)
1966 Topps #132 Orlando Cepeda PSA 10 GEM MINT

FINAL PIECE!!! After two years floundering at the bottom of the National League, the St. Louis Cardinals traded pitcher Ray Sadecki for San Francisco's first baseman, Orlando Cepeda. Already the 1958 National League Rookie of the Year, Cepeda was widely regarded as the top first baseman in the NL and his six All-Star appearances helped to substantiate that belief. For his career, standing on the first base bag, Orlando Cepeda posted an astonishing .990 fielding percentage, so when St. Louis traded for Orlando, they added the final cog in the wheel that won 101 games and the 1967 World Series.

Orlando Cepeda led the NL with 111 RBIs while batting .325 adding 25 home runs and 183 hits to capture the 1967 NL MVP in a runaway. Offered here is a 1966 Topps #132 Cepeda issue graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA prior to his trade from the Giants to the Redbirds. This unbelievably untouched example of the Baby Bull offers absolutely perfect and spot-on centering. Seemingly just cut from the factory in 1966, this Cepeda has a razor edge, blood-letting corners and flawless surfaces. Try to find something wrong with this virtually impossible find. This one of only five GEM MINT 10 Orlando Cepeda issues is one to consider as there is nary a defect to be found.
