SGC 8.5 MICKEY!!! Presented here is an outstanding SGC 8.5 NM-MT+ 1955 Bowman Mickey Mantle, one of six, that has been bested by only one of the approximate 2.244 encapsulated specimens! When considering the composition of the 1955 Bowman cards and their highly condition-sensitive woodgrain borders, it's remarkable that this offering reveals only nominal upper edge border flaking. Similar to the 1962 and 1971 Topps issues, landing high-grade 1955 Bowman subjects can be a truly excruciating undertaking. The rising prices of high-grade Mantle cards include Memory Lane's October 2021 auction in which a PSA 9 MINT '55 Bowman Mantle fetched a record-setting $375K! Mantle's classic batting pose depicts crystal-clear clarity and atypically reveals a near-perfectly centered image. Just as impressive is the lack of any glaring surface loss within the brown borders, with only some slight wear along the upper edge and two microscopic chips along the upper left edge.
